Playa del Carmen, 04 November 2005 - Hotel Las Palapas is located at the heart of the beautiful Mexican Caribbean on the far east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Nature has treated us with 13 miles (20 kilometers) of Playa del Carmen's white sand beaches, fringed by turquoise, crystal clear Caribbean water and abundant tropical vegetation. Since its opening 15 years ago, Hotel Las Palapas has always been able to face every natural disaster with speed and efficiency thanks to a dedicated team of employees, proud and in love with their hotel.

Although the impact of Hurricane Wilma was strong, we are pleased to report that we are on schedule to fully reopen our Hotel on November 10, 2005. Las Palapas suffered like everyone the effect of this strong natural phenomena but the damage were not unrecoverable. On the following days of Wilma’s visit everyone were already working on the premises to quickly restore it to its normal condition.

Most of our rooms, our restaurants, our swimming pool, our beach and our wellness center are ready to operate beginning of next week and our garden is recovering fast to regain its abundant tropical vegetation.

The number of misinformation and the diffusion of various pictures and videos of some of the worst parts of the Mayan Riviera are affecting the part of the Peninsula which is today on complete operation. On November 15th the 80% of the room inventory of the Mayan Riviera will be open and fully operational.

The International Airport of Cancun is already working with the totality of its services, 24 hours a day.

The pedestrian and famous 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen, well known by its gourmet restaurants and unique stores, is already offering all tourist activities, services, and night life receiving all our tourists as usual.

All efforts are focused on the complete restoration of all the tourist activities and services along with updating national and international sources about the status of our destination with accurate information.
